Open Dutch WordNet

The noun hypernym hierarchy is visualized above. In this visualisation, pink nodes are new concepts, red nodes are WordNet synsets with Dutch synonyms and blue nodes are WordNet synsets without Dutch synonyms.

Open Dutch WordNet is a Dutch lexical semantic database.

It was created by removing the proprietary content from Cornetto and by using open source resources to replace this proprietary content.

Open Dutch Wordnet contains 117914 synsets, of which the majority are
nouns synsets: 98049. There are 18782 verb synsets and 1083 adjectival synsets. 51588 synsets contain at least one Dutch synonym, which leaves 66326 synsets still to obtain a synonym. The resource contains 92295 synonyms. The average polysemy is 1.5.

The demo of Open Source Dutch WordNet can be inspected by go through these steps:
(1) Use as browser Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox
(2) Go to https://debvisdic.let.vu.nl:9002/editor/
(3) login with: username: gast, password: gast
(4) click in the left box on ‘ODWN’ add click the ‘Add’ button
(5) click the button ‘Open dictionaries’ and inspect the resource
